She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy Briggs and Mary Briggs (Varner); her daughter Cathy Watkins; and her siblings, Uel, Glenn, Lester, Jim Briggs and Wilma McKeaigg.
She is survived by: her husband Joseph H. Murphey, Sr. of Joplin; her sons, Joseph H. Murphey, Jr. of Lenexa and Brian Murphey of Joplin; and her siblings, Shelby Briggs (Marilyn) of Clinton, Clyde Briggs (Donna) of Clinton, Bonnie Winters of Clinton and Esther Singer of Clinton. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Fellowship Baptist Church (2827 E 32nd St, Joplin, MO 64804). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Englewood Cemetery (1804 E Ohio St, Clinton, MO 64735).
