He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Johnston and Helen Johnston Hubbard; his son Tommy Johnston; his wife Judy Dianne Enz; and his grandson Blake Ward.
He is survived by: his sister Peggy Otten of Flagstaff, Arizona; his daughter Becky Johnston Ward (Charles Ward); his grandson Garrett Ward (Katie Ward); his great grandchildren, Teddy and Poppy Ward; his family, Junko Shinkosomada, Atsuko Mettlach of Japan and Wanida Meier (Urs Meier) of Thailand; Emily, Ken, Maya, Faiz, Sedique and Sebastian.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mason - Woodard Chapel (3701 E 7th St, Joplin, MO 64801). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Park Plaza Christian Church (3220 S Indiana Ave, Joplin, MO 64804).
