He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend A. B. Douglas and Geneva Douglas (Brown); his grandson Jonathan Michael Douglas; his siblings, James R. Douglas, Rev. Joseph Douglas, Wenola Sanders and Essie E. Dawson; his sister-in-law Carol Douglas; and his nephews, John Damon Sanders and Brian Douglas.
He is survived by: his wife Viola Johnson Douglas; his children, Benita Douglas Wolff (Gregory), Benjamin Douglas, Jr. (Melody) and Benje Matthew Douglas (Kristy); his granddaughter Lydia Jasmine Douglas; his siblings, Abraham Douglas (Ida), Joretha McCorvey, Lorena Smith and Gwendolyn Edmonson (W. T.); and his brothers-in-law, Dr. John A. Sanders, Rev. Albert McCorvey and Arthur C. Smith, Jr.. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
