He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Meachum (Peggy) and Patricia Haylan. He is survived by: his son Samuel; his nephew Kevin; his wife Dana Meachum; his siblings, Jennifer Plahuta (Jim), Joe Meachum (Pam), Jean Barratt (Peter), Tiri Weber, Tina Taylor (Meachum) and James Meachum; and his stepsiblings, Rick Simon (Mary) and Karla Mullins. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many longtime friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Derrick Thomas Third and Long Foundation in honor of Fred.

“Dana and Sam; we just learned of Fred's passing; and share in your sorrow. Of course, we are aware; that our grief does not compare to yours. Both Monte and I have been widowed and know the pain and anxiety that such a tremendous loss brings. Sam and Dana; be patient with one another; we all grieve in different ways; a mother to her husband; and a son to his father.
