He was predeceased by: his parents, William Earnest Hespelt and Rose Elizabeth Lausten; and his brothers, George Gordon Hespelt and William Hespelt Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Gay Hespelt; his children, Nathan Boyd Hespelt and Melody Olive Haskett (Eli Earl Haskett); his granddaughter Everly Rose Haskett; and his siblings-in-law, Michael Conway, Joy Becker (Richard Becker) and JoAnne Hespelt.
