He was predeceased by: his father Jack Spence; his nephews, Johnny Spence and Harold McGinnis; and his pet Otis. He is survived by: his mother Kit Spence; his wife Mary Cosgrove; his daughters, Heather Tremaine (Steve) and Kristin McLaughlin (Andrew); his granddaughters, Cameron Soldner, Betsy and Cora McLaughlin; and his siblings, John Spence (Beth), Bob Spence (Susan), Martha Cason (Bill), Susan Witcher (Bob), Nancy McGinnis (Hal) and Mark Spence (Susan).
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Food Pantry at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Visitation Shared Vision Campaign and St. Luke's Hospice House.
