He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret "Margie" Grant; his sons, Anthony "Ray" Grant and Nathaniel "Pewee" Grant, Jr.; his siblings, Charles Leroy "Boomer" Grant, Johnny Grant, Jr., Willie Grant, Felix Jerman, Cleophis Jerman, Eloise Pointer, Annette Boston, Wilma Clark and Alma Jean Grant; and his stepson Leonard Watts.
He is survived by: his children, Bettie Jones, Netta Alexander, Kevin Grant and Nathan Boop; and his siblings, Catherine Grant, Louise Young Moore, Lavern Jerman, Kenny Grant, James Grant Sr. and George Jerman. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, niece's, great nieces, nephews, and great nephews, cousins, and friends.
