He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Robert C. Eckhardt and Ruth F. Eckhardt; and his son Will. He is survived by: his wife Marge; his son Rob; his daughters-in-law, Brenda Eckhardt and Carole Eckhardt; his grandchildren, Forest Eckhardt, Adrienne Eckhardt, Anita Eckhardt, Alan Eckhardt and Kaili Kreiner; and his siblings, Dr. Karl R. Eckhardt (Pamela), Elizabeth Palmieri (Frank) and Myrna Lott (Bryan).

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Second Presbyterian Church (318 E 55th St, Kansas City, MO 64113). Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location. The inurnment will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Leavenworth National Cemetery (150 Muncie Rd, Leavenworth, KS 66048).
