He is survived by: his wife Roberta Joanne Henry Renfro; his son John Gared Renfro (Richard); his sister Dr. Mary Ann Wells (Jim); and his siblings-in-law, Bonnie Potter (Dennie) and Bob Matthews (Diane). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, and the Hearing Loss Association of America.
