He is survived by : his wife Zelda Steele; his father Rollie Smith of Kirksville, MO; his children, Michael Smith of Kirksville, MO, Bill Smith of Valley Falls, KS, Carla Mayer (Gary) of Baring, MO and Michelle Hughes of Des Moines, IA; his sister Susie Patten (Smith) of Marceline, MO; his grandchildren, Rachel Pelc (Lance), Tyler Smith, Cassidy Smith (Marcus), Ashley Mayer and Megan Mayer (Brandon Hudnall); and his siblings-in-law, Ralph Steele (Vicky) and Marieta Allen (John J.). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
