She was predeceased by : her parents, Glen Dixon and Viola Dixon (Lutz); her husband Terry Platz; her son Carl David Kennison; her granddaughter Melissa Ann Wood; her siblings, Shirley May McKim, Vernon, Junior (Carl), Norman, Melvin, Ed and Bob; and her sisters-in-law, Hetty Dixon, Rose Dixon, Helen Dixon, Ellen Dixon, Hallie Dixon and Lavon Dixon.

She is survived by : her children, Tracie Wood of Shelbina, MO and Jeremy Kennison (Melissa) of Paris, MO; her stepchildren, Tracy Platz (Renee) of Kansas City, MO, Carrie Weber (Dan) of Kansas City, MO and Corey Platz (Leslie) of Kansas City, MO; her brother Roger Dixon of Alabama; her sister-in-law Delores Dixon of Oregon; and her great grandchild Terry (Aiden William Loper). She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorials in memory of Karen are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital.
