He is survived by: his wife Judy Charlene Rash; his children, Kimberly Jayne (Tom) of Pittsburgh, PA, Tom Hays, Jr. (Bridgette), Kari Rolston (James), Kristi Breslin and Todd Hays of Kirksville, MO.; his grandchildren, Bobby, Erik Hultgren, Olivia Hays, Trey, Ashlee Hays, Zoie Havens, Stella Hays, A. J. Rolston, Alyssa Kelley, Jessalyn Eddy, Shelbi McDonald, Samuel Breslin, Sable Breslin, Elizabeth Breslin, Ashton English and Baylie Hawkins; his sisters, Kathy Sullivan of Columbia, MO and Karen Hammons of Kirksville, MO.; his grandsons, Taylor, Charlie Hays, Gabe Gannelli of Sammy Breslin, A. J, Joe McDonald, Slater Kelley and Albert Hawkins; and his cousins, Marvin Cook, Dr. Ferrell Moots, Gary Grubrich, Eldon Grissom, Loren Grissom and Gail Curtis. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
