She is survived by: her children, Sherita Thompson, Carolyn Cohen, Hickey Thompson and Trenell Ewing; and her siblings, Ida Alverson, Eli Griffin and Lee Haynes Lee Otis (California). She is also survived by nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
