He was predeceased by : his spouse Shirley M. Dooley; his granddaughter Catherine Conroy; his parents, Joseph Dooley and Helen Dooley; his siblings, Thomas Dooley (Marie) and Alex Dooley (late Harriet); and his aunts, Dorothy and Alice Garvin.

He is survived by : his children, Kim Dooley (Rick Wilson), Joseph Dooley, III (Paige), Peggy Conroy (Anthony), Kerry Zekert, Daniel Dooley (Susan) and Katie Curran (Dan); his close friend Mary Lou Martin; and his grandchildren, Colin, Alex, Ian Yates, Michael, Hagan (Leslie Barnard), Christian Dooley, Molly, Kevin, Kate, Danny (Allie), Peter Zekert, Daniel, Elaine, Joseph, Nina Dooley, Jack (Shantal Cheong), Cole, Carter Griesedieck, Mac, Nick and Katherine Curran.
