He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Schafer and Magdelena "Lena" Schafer (Weiler). He is survived by: his wife Carol Schafer (Kaatmann); his son Mark Schafer (Sundii); his siblings, Dan Schafer of Wentzville and Mary Meehan of St. Louis; and his grandchildren, Lilyana and Logan.
