He was predeceased by: his parents, Alger Charles and Ollie Mae Mitchell; his brother Alger Allen Mitchell; his half-brothers, Clayton and Raymond; and his stepson Mark.
He is survived by: his wife Donna; his children, Cynthia Slater (Don), James Purgahn (Patricia), Daniel Mitchell (Sara) and Diane Miller; and his grandchildren, Chad Mitchell, Adam Mitchell, Cassey Mitchell, Larry Maak, James Maak, Bobby Slater, Billy Slater, Moriah Miller, Caleb Miller, Keenan Miller, Dustin Akins, Taylor Harvey and Rusty Ruf.
