He was predeceased by: his parents, Giles Jahue Hammons and Ethel Zeffie Hammons (Gannaway); his wife Laura Faye Esry; his sisters, Lois (Jim Brandom), Francis (Oral Yancey) and Dorothy (Ernie Verrue); and his brother-in-law Pat Crane.
He is survived by: his children, Jamie Hammons of Lamar, Missouri and Judy Crockett of Carthage, Missouri; his grandchildren, Sarah Hammons, Allison Hammons, Nicole Hammons, Blake Crockett (Lori) and Brad Crockett (Jeni); his great grandchildren, Emersyn, Brenton, Caleb, Gentry and Ensley; his sister Pauline Crane of Stockton; and his sisters-in-law, Barbara Wallen and Anna Ruth Fields (Ed).
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested and may be made payable to the Missouri Veteran's Home Assistance League in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
