He was predeceased by: his parents, Romaine F. Garten and Laura Marie Garten (Ashford); his son Mark Garten; his grandson Grant Broughton; and his siblings, Laura Garten Penton-Williams and Robert Garten.
He is survived by: his daughters, Jeni Garten (Kenny Cox) of Lamar, Kelly White (Mark) of Lamar, Shelly Howard of Winfield and Sherry Burkhammer of Kansas City, Missouri; and his grandchildren, Lyndsey Gruber Chatfield, Kyle Gruber, Taylor Howard, Katlyne Howard Hoelscher, Daniel Howard, Brooke White Brewer, Luke White, Zachary Griffith, Nicholas Burkhammer, Haden Garten and Brandon Garten. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
