He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Phillip and Ada Belle Smyser (Chambers); his sons, David Smyser and Mark Smyser (Christy); his granddaughter Kelly Gray; his siblings, Payton Smyser (Juanita), Anna Lou Bird (Sandy), Mary Belle Durham (Donald) and Nancy Kale Kerby; and his brothers-in-law, Earl Glenn and Robert Melvin.

He is survived by: his wife Marie Brubaker of Lancaster, Missouri; his children, Debbie Smyser (Mike Stutsman) of Kirksville, Kevin Smyser (Millie) of Smithville and Aaron Smyser (Talia Rodgers) of Greentop, Missouri; his grandchildren, Tracy Goodson, Travis Tucker, Tyler Tucker, Tracy Mathews (Adrian), Jordan Berry (Shawn Kelliher), Alexa Smyser (Dustin Schempp), Olivia Harris (Daniel), Lincoln Smyser, Brenden Smyser (Alexis), Joel Smyser, Abby Enderle (Albert), Irelan Smyser and Harley Smyser; his siblings, Edith Glenn, Esther Cypert, Virginia Melvin and Manley Smyser (Mary); and his brother-in-law Keith Kerby. He is also survived by 19 great grandchildren, many other extended family members and friends.
