He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Olyx and Lula Mae Capps (Mistler); his wife Phyllis; his son Dale Capps; his stepdaughters, Pamela Thomas and Debbie Vigil; his granddaughter Katie Scott; his great great grandchildren, Annalynn Arbogast and Robbie Bates; and his siblings, Melba Jones, Wilma Daines, Merl, Nelson, Eugene and Bobby Capps.
He is survived by: his children, Lou Tanzi (Joe) of Auburn, Donna Atkins (Dick) of Casa Grande, Candy Mason (Mike) of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Donald F. Capps II of Gainesville, Florida; and his stepchildren, Patricia Schwager (Ronald) of Chillicothe, Paula Scott (Davey) of Chillicothe, Penny Colbert of Jacksonville, Florida, Steve Rader of Chillicothe and Eugene Day (Ruth) of Russellville, Arkansas. He is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-seven great grandchildren; fifteen great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lindley Funeral Home - Chillicothe (910 Washington St, Chillicothe, MO 64601). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be made to Plainview Cemetery and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
