He is survived by: his children, Mark Shoemaker (Denise) of Lebanon, MO, David Shoemaker (Janice) of Lebanon, MO, Christopher Shoemaker (Jodi) of Lebanon, MO and Dawn Sampson (Daniel) of Dillsburg, PA; his grandchildren, Brandon Shoemaker (RaeAnn), Derek Shoemaker, Megan Semonis (Samuel), Ryan Shoemaker (Danielle), Brooke McElvaney (Levi), Austin Shoemaker, Aaron Shoemaker (Brooke), Noah Sampson, Lyla Sampson and Allie Sampson; and his sibling Luanna Metzgar of Las Cruces, NM. He is also survived by other relatives; church family and friends.

In November 2020, Dave lost his wife Dorothy during the COVID pandemic.
