He was predeceased by : his parents, Gale Lawson and Retta McClure Lawson; and his parents-in-law, Wilbert and Nadine Simpson. He is survived by : his wife Donna Simpson; his sons, Erik Lawson (Gina) of Bolivar, MO and Aaron Lawson (Carolyn) of Atlanta, GA; his brother Jay Lawson (Marti) of Graham, TX; his grandchildren, Ashley Chabrecek, Nicole Rash, Cody Lawson, Julie Lawson, Alex Porter and Abbi Jones; his siblings-in-law, Sharon and Eddie Vincent of Alabama; and his friends, Matt, Lee and Gary.

Mike also served on the Hughes Foundation Board for twenty-one years; he was known and appreciated for his attention to detail to financial reports.
