He is survived by: his parents, W. S. McConnell and Frieda Jean Atkinson McConnell of Lebanon; his wife Cheryl Henderson; his children, Stephanie Poole (Jared) and Matthew McConnell of Springfield, Missouri; his grandchildren, Hudson and Elaina Poole; and his sister Deborah J. Gulley of Springfield, Missouri..

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made to a local animal shelter in memory of Steve.
