He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Harris Heaton and Rozella Cleverly Heaton Wellman; his son Thomas Jay Heaton; and his siblings, Don Oliver Heaton, Donna and Doris.
He is survived by: his wife Agnes Heaton (Aggie); his children, James Heaton (Jackie) of Warrensburg and Anne Millam (David) of Lee's Summit; and his brother Wayne Heaton (Barbara). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.
