He was predeceased by: his siblings, Jack Hirst and Anita Hirst; and his parents, William Hirst and Helen Hirst (Bates). He is survived by: his daughter Helen Hirst; his grandchildren, Austin Hirst and Makenna; his great grandchild Issac; his sister MaVoy Hirst; and his pet Harley.
He spent 17 years as the water pollution control supervisor for the city of Independence, where he was respected for his contributions to public health and safety.
