He was predeceased by: his wife Velma Soest (Bert); his parents, Ben Soest and Ethel Soest; his sons, Danny and David Soest; his siblings, Robert, Raymond Soest, Ginny Eckert and Ruth Chase; and his grandsons, Joseph and Lucas Soest.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Soest, Chris Soest, Gregory Soest, Becky Hunt (Mike), Katherine Richter and Kevin Soest (Teresa); his sister Mary Lou Schroeder; his grandchildren, Eric, Matthew, Jessica, Josh, Michael (Stephanie) and Daniel (Melissa); and his friend James.
