He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Mathews and Anna Mathews (Baclesse); his sisters, Verda, Roena Mathews and Verla Wolfe (Tom); his niece Dorothy Brown; his brothers-in-law, Ralph Salvas, Harry Jaegers (Leona) and Harold Jaegers (Nancy); and his parents-in-law, August and Bernardine Jaegers.
He is survived by: his wife Alvina Jaegers; his sons, Chris Mathews (Becky) of Jefferson City and Kenny Mathews of Loose Creek; his grandchildren, Logan Mathews of Columbia and Lauren Mathews of Columbia; and his sister Ruth Salvas of Salmon, Idaho. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 27th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Morton Chapel (911 E Main St, Linn, MO 65051). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 28th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, April 28th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 3:15 PM at the Perrey-St. Isidor Cemetery.
