He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Edward and Henrietta Mary Helmich (Collins); and his daughter Lori Kanipe (Helmich). He is survived by: his wife Roberta Ann Helmich of Livonia, Missouri; his children, Rodney Dean Helmich, Scott Lee Helmich of Gainesville, Florida, Laura Garrett (Erwin) of Rogers, Arkansas, Alicia Vittetoe (Don) of Washington, Iowa and Julie Knott (Jason) of Lecanto, Florida; and his son-in-law Kenneth Kanipe of Sarasota, Florida. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home (116 E Main St, Washington, IA 52353).
