He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Thoenen and Johanna Thoenen (Kremer); and his siblings, Mildred Ogle and Wilfred Thoenen. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Balkenbusch; his children, Rose Thoenen of Jefferson City, Robert Thoenen of Boring, Mary Ruth Kliethermes (Dale) of Linn, Rita Schanzmeyer (Steve) of Westphalia, Dale Thoenen (Suzanne) of Loose Creek and Dan Thoenen (Jennifer Sieg) of Loose Creek; his siblings, Fred Thoenen (Theresa) of Frankenstein and Clare Laughlin of St. Louis; and his sister-in-law Mary Lou Thoenen of Linn. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (121 County Rd 402, Loose Creek, MO 65054). A Mass was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Immaculate Conception School Foundation.
