He was predeceased by: his parents, James L. Johnson and Mildred L. Johnson (Harrison); and his aunt Louise. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Johnson; his stepson John Jones (Terry Lisa) of Columbia, MO; and his grandchildren, Whitney Jones, Jonathan Jones, Zach Pate and Hannah Seals.
The family suggests memorials to the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery.
