He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Simthson and Goldie Earl Simthson; his wife Jo Ann Graham; his daughters, Michelle Starnes and Lori Smithson; and his siblings, Paul Smithson, Donnie Smithson and Mary Lindsey.
He is survived by: his children, Wendi Jenkins (Anthony) of Ellsinore and Steven Smithson of Eminence, Kentucky; and his sister Louise Dodson of Caruthersville. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
