She was predeceased by: her parents, James Archie Coates and Anna Lee Coates (Brinkley); her husband Bill; and her brother Max Lynn Coates. She is survived by: her children, Samuel Smith (Angie) of Yukon, Matthew Smith of Springfield, Missouri and Brenda Greer (Clarence) of Mesquite, Texas; and her nephew Ryan Coates of Kansas City, Kansas.. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
