He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Homer Edward and Lillie Myrtle Bollinger Hurst; his wife Janet Bullinger; his sons, Clay (Becky), Thor (Mary) and Chad (Amy); his grandchildren, Travis (Alyson), Holly, Ethan, Nathan, Annie, McKenna, Emma, Hanna and Bristol; his great grandchildren, Kayden and Carson; and his sisters, Brenda Huff, Margie Runnels and Helen Matthews.

“I just learned today, March 26, 2021 of Carl's passing. I was at Woodland High School teaching from 1974-76. Carl was my best friend at the school. He was kind, smart, and a wonderful influence on the young men and women he taught. I am very sorry you have lost him but just remember, you didn't lose him forever, you'll see him again someday.
