He was predeceased by: his parents, C. Herschel Shields and Mildred Shields (Smith). He is survived by: his sons, Charles W. and Brandon S. Shields; and his sister Linda Schreffler. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
