He is survived by: his wife Geraldine E. Sumy (McAmis); his son Robert M. Sumy (Rita); his grandchildren, Braton, Braona, Mehki, Zaphfyr and Amy Derr; his great grandchildren, Kelby Derr and Avery Derr; his granddaughter Wendi Godwin (Jim); his great grandchildren, Clint Brummett (Katie), Kara Godwin and Lilah Godwin; his granddaughter Rachel Julo (Steve); his great grandchildren, Izzy Julo and Landon Julo; his daughter Pamela Wallace (Mike); his grandson Andy Woods (Sarah); his great grandchildren, Lane Woods and Courtney Woods; his granddaughter Halea Woods; his stepgrandchildren, Becky Hines (Mike), Kali, Sarah Miller (Bill) and Issac; and his sisters, Betty Hankins, Ramona Harrington, Carolyn Weston (Roger), Linda Shupp and Rita Wells. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In memory of Marvin, his family suggests memorials be made in care of Skidmore Fire Department, or Skidmore United Methodist Church.
