He is survived by: his son J. R. VanCleave of California; his siblings, Joyce Norris of Mesa, Lelah Bacca of Lancaster, Betty White (Charles) of Haysville, Kansas and Edward VanCleave (Toni); and his brothers-in-law, Norman Westmoreland (Karla) of Kearney and Donald Westmoreland (Valerie) of Sunrise Beach. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Memorials are suggested to V.F.W. Post 5675 in Odessa, Missouri.
