He was predeceased by: his parents, George, Sr. Sheets and Mary Belle Sheets (Bruner); his wife Ruby Sheets; and his siblings, James W. Sheets, Verdell Sheets, Joe E. Sheets and Marguerite Sheets-Anderson.
He is survived by: his children, Sharon Smith (Harold) of Sedalia, George Sheets (Marzena) of Chicago and Mary Edwards (Greg Kemp) of Columbia; his grandchildren, DeAndre Smith (Bailey), Shannon Schenewerk (Dale), Dominique Smith, Shawn Edwards and Gabrielle Sheets; his great grandchildren, Aliyah Smith, Kolton Schenewerk, Kellan Smith, Roman Smith, Kaia Schenewerk, Jaelani Edwards and Ariah Smith; and his brother Raymond Sheets of Davenport, IA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
