He was predeceased by: his father Russell Unger; his grandson Landyn Unger; and his stepdaughter Nicolle Blacketer. He is survived by: his mother Rosella C. Unger (Schwenker) of Mexico; his wife Karen Unger of Mexico; his sons, Travis Unger (Joni) of Mexico and Michael Unger (Racheal) of Centralia; his stepdaughter Tarra Thomas (Seth) of Hammond, Louisiana; his grandchildren, Kameron, Karsen, Rhett and Kayson; and his brothers, Walt Unger (Teresa) of Mexico and Brian Unger (Christina) of Mexico. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the grandchildren's education fund.
