He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Fuemmeler and Flora Fuemmeler; and his siblings, Edna Nichols (Lloyd), Clarence (Virlea), Irv (Mildred), Eugene (Mary Athlyn), Maurice (Verlee) and Mel (Bobbi).

He is survived by: his wife Rose Smith; his children, Sheila Shipman (Jim), Ron (Gennie), Karen Jacobi, Betty Salmon (Orv), Linda Mace (Ken), Carl (Debbie), Rick (Carleen), Donna Fuhrer (Regan), Tammy Monk (Joe), Randy (Connie) and Vince (Sundy); and his siblings, Leon (Marie), Ray (Sharell), Aileen Thies (Tony) and Bernice Henke (Lawrence). He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
