He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayland H Sumpter, Sr. and Cora Mae Sumpter (Coliver). He is survived by: his wife Ruth Sumpter; his daughter Karen D Janssen; and his siblings, Elnora Laytham, Wayland Jr., Billy J, Russell L, Gerald, Vernon G, Gary T and Adrian.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairview Cemetery, 17129 Hwy. B Clark, MO 65243.
