He was predeceased by: his former wife Susan Lee Gulick; his parents, John William VanCleve and Betty Joy Burch VanCleve; his siblings, Phillip Randolph VanCleve and Pamela VanCleve Tebow; and his stepson Kody Ray Allen.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Kay VanCleve; his children, Pamela Gayle VanCleve, John William VanCleve, III (Jack) and Quinne Susan VanCleve; his grandsons, Taylor Bowen (Courtney) and Terry Bowen (Kersten); and his brother Stephen Burch VanCleve (Peggy Sue). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made through donations to the American Heart Association in John's name.
