We are sad to announce that on January 30, 2020, at the age of 93, Leona Marie Bell (Moberly, Missouri), born in Blackwell, Oklahoma passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Kelle and Martha Kelle (Reinking); her husband Fred Richard Bell; her siblings, Aubrey Kelle, Verna McKenzie and Maxine Nixon; and her daughter-in-law Wanda Bell.

She is survived by: her children, Robert Bell of Carrollton, MO, Nancy Freeman (Kenneth) of Harbor Springs, MI, Marilyn Summerlin (Robert) of Birmingham, AL and Merlin Bell (Penny) of Leon, IA.; and her grandchildren, Lance Bell (Heidi) of Weldon, IA, Michael Bradford of Birmingham, AL, Jeffrey Bradford (Rebecca) of Coral Springs, FL, Matthew Bell (Jennifer) of Lee's Summit, MO, John Summerlin of Atlanta, GA, Greg Summerlin of Dothan, AL, Chad Sampsel (Tonya) of Warsaw, MO, Jaime Holden (Nikolas) of Petoskey, MI, Karen McNarney (Christopher) of Thiensville, WI, Lacey Bell of Leon, IA, Brooke Woodham (Michael) of Riverside, IL, Kristine Bell of Seattle, WA, Kelle Summerlin of Atlanta, GA, Michelle Freeman of Moberly, MO, Kellie Smothers (James) of Moberly, MO, Staci Crawford (Jim) of Fort Worth, TX and Lori McCombs (William) of Lee's Summit, MO.

“Late on this but i was sad to see that leona had died. Leona was teaching english at moberly area community college when i joined the faculty in 1993. She was a warm and welcoming presence, always positive. I wrote a few movie reviews for the monitor index paper and she sent me a nice note about it. I succeeded her as humanities division chairperson and tried to follow her example of how to conduct the meetings. She was an excellent tennis player and organized a local usta chapter.”
