Virginia Smallwood Ray Obituary
We announce the death of Virginia Smallwood Ray of Mount Moriah, Missouri, who passed away on October 12, 2026, at the age of 89. Virginia will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Winnifred Smallwood and Chester Smallwood; her husband Bob Ray; her brother Freddy; her stepson Rob; her brother-in-law Jim Vaughan; and her pets, Stoney, Betsy, Sox, Megan and Smythe.
She is survived by: her sons, Tom and David; her daughters-in-law, Allie and Gennell; her stepdaughter Lora; her grandchildren, Corbin, Tyler, Marshall and Avery; her stepgranddaughters, Nikki and Michelle; and her stepgreat-grandsons, Nicholas and Matthew.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home (10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131). A celebration of life was held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the same location. During the Covid pandemic, Virginia took on a new role as caregiver to Bob.
