He was predeceased by: his parents, Karl William and Mary Ellen Brooks Sr. (Bilger); his children, Geoffrey Brooks and Dianne Boyd; and his siblings, Dorothy and Paul.
He is survived by: his wife Wyona Mae Porter; his children, Ellen (Carl Ferch), Karen Scheid, Marlon Brooks and Greg Brooks (Lisa Brooks); his stepchildren, Jonna Jenkins, Sheryl Witt and Jim Adams; and his siblings, David Brooks and Barbara Biellier. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
