We announce the death of Joel Shaffer of Nevada, Missouri, born in Milo, Missouri, who passed away on August 7, 2026, at the age of 70. Joel will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Shaffer and Dorothy Shaffer (Jester); his grandparents, John and Pearl Jester; and his brother John Baughman.
He is survived by: his wife Debbie Kerr; his daughter Stephanie Schoephoerster (Kent) of Gulf Breeze, FL; his stepson Kyle James of Greencastle, IN; his grandchildren, Kyler Schoephoerster (Taryn), Ethan Schoephoerster (Baylee), Chase Schoephoerster, Cristlynn McDonnell (Leonard) and Barryn McDonnell; his great grandchild Lucian Youmans; and his siblings, Jesse Jester (Carol), Sabrena Allison (Larry), Charles Baughman, Vanessa Carroll (Andy), Edward Baughman (Marla), Aaron Baughman and Larry Baughman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
