He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Cotten, Sr. and Estelle Burgess Cotten; and his niece Laura Walters. He is survived by: his sons, Micheal Cotten, Jr. and Gabriel Cotten; and his siblings, Chris Cotten, Melvin Cotten Jr. (Laurel), Jenny Walters (Steve), Angela Furneaux (Hugh) and Wendy Burkhouse (Doug). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association.
