He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Barnhart and Nanalee Barnhart (Barnes); and his son Jeff Barnhart. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Barnhart; and his sons, Perry Barnhart (Catherine) and Doug Barnhart (Dawna). He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
