He was predeceased by : his parents, John T. Koontz and Cora B. Koontz (Scheible); his wife Mildred Dorner; his siblings, Ralph E. Koontz, Earl T. Koontz, Dale E. Koontz (Dude), Mary Eliza Wood (Jane), Helen L. Costner and Nora D. Fairchild; his grandchildren, Angela Paulette Kruger and Nathaniel Caleb Kruger; and his son-in-law Kenneth Kruger.

He is survived by : his grandson Troy; his children, Janell Wright of Springfield, MO and Troy Allen of Springfield, MO; his grandchildren, Rebecca Amborne (Daniel) of Eden Prairie, MN, Micheal Koontz and Johnathon Lloyd Koontz of Springfield, MO; and his great grandchildren, Carmyn, Katherine Koontz, Nathaniel, Ollie Amborne and Junior Koontz. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Norborne.
