He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Swafford and Darlene Swafford (Ross); his brother Terry Lynn Swafford; and his pet Little Man. He is survived by: his siblings, David Melton, Sr. (Bobbie Jo) of Bosworth, Adam Melton (Stacy Foster) of Independence and Ellen Melton of Carrollton; and his cousin Mary Lawson (Bill Munson) of Norborne. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gary Swafford Memorial Fund.
