She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer Hilgeman and Louise Hilgeman; and her brother Elmer G. H. Hilgeman. She is survived by: her children, Carrie Sallwasser (James) and Jay Kempen (Aziza); her grandchildren, Andrew Sallwasser (Lauren) and Amy Schwartz (Zach); her great grandchildren, Emma, Nora, Nathan and Bennett; and her sister Eileen Reichert (late Michael).
